In cooperation with Bølgekraftforeningen (The Wave Energy Association) the development project ”Bølgekraftnetværk” (“Wave Energy Network”) ” is implemented. The purpose of the development project is to assure the continuing ability to innovate, growth and commercialisation of the energy form in order to quickly level the energy form with offshore wind energy and similar commercialisation.
The development project shall frame the establishment of a strong Danish expert panel (Advisory Board) of wave energy. Additionally, a strategic network of professionals, companies, business partners and sparring partners shall be built in relation to wave energy based on a binding cooperation between Offshore Center Danmark and Bølgekraftforeningen. Moreover, a specific national wave energy network shall be established for the purpose of providing innovative solutions, business, information and inspiration to the companies. This wave energy network will be open to all interested companies with commercial focus. The development project ”Bølgekraftnetværk” shall strengthen the industry’s competences and ability to innovate through international networks and alliances with the purpose to strengthen the companies.
In connection with the development project, two open conferences/seminars in Denmark shall be held and an international conference of wave energy which shall be held in Denmark too.
A professional network coach is attached to the wave energy project to ensure a fast and efficient structure of network. Additionally, a professional information leaflet and website for the network are drawn up. Moreover, a common strategy of the further course of network will be implemented.
Wave energy is a future renewable energy source for Denmark, which possesses resources of waves, and theoretically wave energy can cover close on 40% of Denmark’s consumption of electricity. There are many connections between wave energy and the current offshore Industri and a profound breakthrough in the wave energy technology will occur already in 5-10 years. Therefore it is necessary to build an innovative network for contractors of wave energy and knowledge institution with a view to levelling wave energy technology fast with the established offshore industry within oil, gas and offshore wind turbines, respectively.
On a par with offshore wind energy 20 years ago, the wave energy technology has grown during the recent 10 years and today Denmark is among the world’s leading countries within this field.
- Co-operation agreement with Bølgekraftforeningen (at the beginning of 2012)
- Information leaflet and website are established (in the middle of 2012)
- Preliminary workshops and regular network meetings among the members (at the beginning of 2012 until the end of 2013)
- 2 conferences/seminars (2013)
- International conference about wave energy (at the end of 2013)
