Offshoreenergy.dk's position as the national cluster organisation and innovation network for the offshore industry was cemented and validated by The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation (abbreviated FI) under the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science at a recent milestone meeting to mark reaching the halfway mark in the period 2014-2018.
Denmark has 22 innovation networks, each dedicated to an area in which Denmark occupies a position of strength. Offshoreenergy.dk is Denmark's network for offshore wind and offshore oil & gas. The networks form a framework for activities and projects that seek to inspire member companies and scientists, informing them of new trends and technologies, specifying and testing ideas, and creating new cooperative projects in Denmark and abroad.
Based on the halfway status report and meeting, the FI regards Offshoreenergy.dk as an innovation network under professional leadership but that it has faced challenges in connection with replacements in a number of key network positions.
Offshoreenergy.dk has, however, successfully retained its key position as Denmark's national offshore network. The innovation network includes key players in the offshore sector and creates structures, through which members can seek to create synergies within their ranks. i.e. between companies, scientific institutions and authorities, all of whom operate in either oil & gas or renewables. The FI continues to recognise Offshoreenergy.dk as a role model – because it is a well-functioning cluster and network organisation.
The FI endorsement puts Offshorenenergy.dk under an obligation to continue to strive to develop the national cluster organisation and innovation network for the benefit of the Danish offshore industry.
In January 2017, the Board of Offshoreenergy.dk will hold a strategy day, where it will plan Offshoreenergy.dk's future. We intend of course to apply for the position of national innovation network again in 2018 and beyond.
