Efforts to ensure that the maritime and offshore sectors secure the apprentices they need in the future are now receiving support from a national industrial network group.
Offshoreenergy.dk's apprenticeship coordinator has joined a network of maritime apprenticeship coordinators under the auspices of industrial association Danish Maritime. Yet another network will soon be supporting efforts to obtain tomorrow's maritime and offshore workforce. The clusters' respective maritime apprenticeship coordinators are in the throes of forming a network with heavy industrial bias to bolster efforts to find and train apprentices for the sector and to find companies willing to assume some of the responsibility for training young people. The network group will comprise representatives from the Confederation of Danish Industry, trade unions and "Blue Denmark". The group will have a mandate to influence decision-makers in the maritime and offshore sectors.
Offshoreenergy.dk's Apprentice Coordinator Keld Jacobsen is in contact with several other relevant parties, including Dansk Metal (metalworkers' union) and Dansk El-forbund (Danish Union of Electricians).
