In preparation for Kriegers Flak, more than 90 OEM’s, vendors and suppliers assembled to elect the first committee.
Once commissioned in 2022, the Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm will be the largest offshore wind farm in Denmark – indeed one of the largest in the world. Kriegers Flak’s 600 MW turbines will supply energy to approximately 600,000 households in Denmark – about four times as many as the 2002-commissioned Horns Rev I, which is still one of the largest offshore wind farms.
On 7 September, the Kriegers Flak vendors and suppliers teamed with some of the pre-qualified companies and consortia, local government agencies and relevant networks to shape the process further.
“The 96 participants enjoyed a fruitful and well-planned seminar with relevant topics. They then elected seven members to a committee that will lead the supplier business network in preparation to serve the winning consortia taking part in further development of the wind farm and the subsequent O&M phase,” says Hans A. Pedersen, Director of Renewables Offshorenergy.dk.
The next step is to get the paperwork in place – formulating statutes and drawing up the registration materials for the relevant businesses. Once registered, member competences will be classified.

Why Kriegers Flak?
The Danish part of Kriegers Flak covers 180 of the windiest square kilometres in the Baltic Sea. In 2010, the Danish Energy Agency's Offshore Wind Turbine Committee identified the area as one of the most attractive locations for an offshore wind farm.
Energinet.dk's Kriegers Flak grid connection is budgeted at DKK 3.5 billion excluding additional investments that will be deployed by the winning bidder.
